New York Holidays and Short Breaks

A short break or holiday to New York is going to be jam packed with things to do, this is a city full of excitement, culture and contrasts. When visiting the city on a holiday or short break, the first things you notice are the many skyscrapers sit nestled among some of the world famous attractions, including the glitzy lights of Broadway and the shopping delights of Fifth Avenue.



The heart of the city is Manhattan with the four other boroughs offering some worthwhile sights and visitor attractions in Queens, Brooklyn, The Bronx and Staten Island.

Holidays in New York is either a city you will love or loath, however with around 38 million visitors every year, it proves there isn’t much to hate about this city other than it can be noisy and extremely busy all the time, if you can tolerate this, what’s not to love, it offers fantastic dining, architectural masterpieces including the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building and unique monuments and famous landmarks including The Statue Of Liberty. There are many parks, Sporting events, festivals and parades, performing arts as well as great nightlife, indulgent shopping and a buzz of city life like no other in the world, you feel a sense privilege just to be here.

New York is a very cosmopolitan city and is the biggest City in the USA, therefore it is advisable to pick up a City guide, or you could take a tour of the city by open top bus, which will give you some grounding as to where everything is, or if you want to look less like a tourist, purchase a book that lists all the attractions of the city.
The city is accessible on foot although you will need your comfiest pair of shoes as you may find yourself walking for miles before you find what you are looking for and cabs can take forever to drive a short distance as traffic in the heart of the city is mayhem, the best method of getting around the city is the subway, its cheap, reliable and safe, although not advisable to travel on late at night.

Manhattan is the most popular district to reside, as it situated rights in the heart of where all the action is. All the different districts of Greenwich Village, Soho and Tribeca, the financial district, China Town and Little Italy, midtown Manhattan, the upper east side and the wealthy district of Harlem Hamilton and the North are all lined with eating and drinking establishments, hotels, guest houses, museums, art galleries and shops offering something for everyone.
